Enterprise BI

From Self-Service to Enterprise BI

Enterprise BI is defined as a datawarehouse based solution, managed by IT providing corporate KPI’s and dashboards.

However, users may require BI tools for instant analysis of large amounts of data collected ad-hoc. PowerPivot, Excel 2010 and SharePoint 2010 provide those capabilities.

The new report builder, a Microsoft Office-like reporting tool for end-users, also provides easy to use and powerful reporting.

Collaborative BI

SharePoint 2010 is the collaboration platform allowing to publish BI content via Reporting Services, Excel Services or create dashboards in Performance Point Services and visualize strategy maps via Visio Services.

Publishing this BI content to SharePoint often invites to interpretation and triggers collaboration. SharePoint 2010 provides rich capabilities via traditional discussion boards and task lists but also extends collaboration to blogging, rating, social tagging, note boards, wikis etc.
